Musical Instruments Museum Phoenix
A week ago I was hanging out with my brother Mark and his family down in Arizona. Their family enjoys visiting the Musical Instruments Museum in Phoenix, a place I had never visited before because it opened up 7 years after we moved away from the area. I’m not a huge museum guy since I’m easily overwhelmed by facts and figures, but this one had me fascinated from start to finish. I could have spent the entire day there I’m sure!
I was especially impressed with my favorite gallery: African music and found my little niche in the Malawi and Mozambique exhibit. While the Yawo weren’t mentioned by name, I am sure I heard a Yawo guy singing in the language while playing the thumb piano. I was stoked! And a bit teary eyed probably missing what was home for so many years.
So fun to hang out with the nieces and nephew!
